Complexity is a Sure Sign of Ignorance

The first movie of Back to the Future starts with a Rude Goldberg Machine for conducting the menial morning tasks. Rube Goldberg was an American cartoonist, engineer, inventor, sculptor, and I’m sure the list would go on and on. His cartoons depicted the most complex and convoluted means to accomplish a simple task as shown above, and this won him great notoriety as well as coined the phrase the Rude Goldberg Machine. You’ll see Rude Goldberg Machines in contests, art exhibits, movies, television shows and they always get a chuckle. No one would really put so much energy to accomplish such a simple task, besides government, and I think an important point Rude made, even if it was by accident, was that we for some reason feel the need to complicate everything.
